Sony launches LIV sports to stream Sony Six’s content, FIFA World Cup

Multi Screen Media has launched 'LIV Sports', a digital sports site –www.LIVSports.in. This site will give access to sports properties owned by Sony.

LIV Sports is the official mobile and Internet broadcaster for the 2014 FIFA World CupTM starting June 12. LIV Sports will show both live and video-on-demand match content with statistics and analysis.

Liv sports features content for football, cricket and basketball, with plans to add tennis, motor sports and wrestling (TNA) sections shortly. The focus is however currently on FIFA World Cup.


The site has a paid Football live streaming service which allows subscribers to watch live matches on their phone (iOS & Android), tablet or the desktop. It currently offers two different types of packages – a “Follow your team” package for Rs 60 and a tournament pass for Rs 120. The company says it will offer features like video scorecards, match timeline, real-time & full replay viewing and full match replays among others.

The site also features a MySports section which allows users to sign up for the service to customize the site to view information only from their preferred sports and follow their favorite teams to get their latest updates and team scores among others.

We have attempted to redefine the way sporting content is presented and consumed. With LIV Sports, we will attempt to keep every cross section of our consumers actively engaged through high quality interactive sports content with informative data and analytics.”

Sony’s competitors Star India & Ten Sports are already on digital platforms. Star Sports had tied up with Times Internet to offer live streaming and video on demand content of the recently concluded IPL on its sports website Starsports.com, Star Sports app, and on mobile operator services. Star is planning dual Hindi and English online feeds.


TenSports.com will also stream upcoming events cricket series’, Commonwealth Games, Asian Games & UEFA events.
